제1절 나를 버리고 가시는 님은 십리도 못가서 발병난다.
My love, who leaves and abandons me, will have sore feet before going ten li.

제2절 청천하늘엔 별도 많고 우리네 가슴엔 수심도 많다.
Just as there are many stars in the clear sky, there are many sorrows in our hearts.

제3절 저기 저 산이 백두산이냐 동지섣달에도 꽃만 피네.
Is that mountain over there Baekdusan? Flowers bloom even in the dead of winter.

제4절 명사십리가 아니라면 해당화 피는 줄 설마 알랴.
If it weren't for the Myeongsa-sipri beach, how would I know the sweet briers are blooming?

제5절 풍년이 왔네 풍년이 와요 이 강산 삼천리에 풍년이 왔네.
A rich harvest has come, a rich harvest has come to the three thousand li of this land.

제6절 산에는 꽃 피고 들에는 새 울어 태평성대가 여기로구나.
Flowers bloom on the mountains, birds sing in the fields; this is truly an era of peace.

제7절 발 아래 흐르는 저기 저 물은 굽이굽이 감돌아 바다로 간다.
The water flowing beneath my feet winds around and goes to the sea.
